Long-term closures planned for East Dallas neighborhoods

The Mill Creek/Peaks Branch/State-Thomas Drainage Relief Tunnel Project, started in March 2018, is making progress. The drainage relief tunnel is a five-mile underground tunnel that will provide storm drainage improvements to the Mill Creek, Peaks Branch, East Peaks Branch and State Thomas area.

The project will require street closures. The first closure is scheduled for Monday, June 3 on N. Carroll Avenue between Victor and Worth streets. This section of Carroll Avenue is scheduled to be closed until mid-August 2019.

The entire project includes neighborhood improvements, including upgrades to the stormwater, water customer and wastewater lines near the Peak Addition/Junius Heights and Baylor areas. This work will begin in June 2019 and is scheduled to be completed by December 2020, weather permitting.

The entire project is scheduled for completion in 2023.
