Love Field Clothesline Project supports Paint the Town Purple initiative

Love field is joining hundreds of organizations throughout Dallas who are participating in the Clothesline Project to address the issue of violence against women. The Clothesline exhibit now in the Love Field Terminal displays t-shirts from domestic violence survivors depicting their stories, representing their experiences.

City Councilmember Jennifer S. Gates and the Dallas Domestic Violence Task Force will continue the campaign to end domestic violence by “Painting the Town Purple” during October to bring further awareness to this often silent crime.

The City of Dallas Employee Advisory Council is organizing a walk from 9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 24 at William Blair Jr Park to raise awareness and to accept donations of household and canned goods to donate to the Family Place, a shelter for those affected by domestic violence.

The Clothesline Project began in 1990. The shirts, decorated by those affected by abuse, hang to be viewed by others as testimony to the problem of violence against women. The exhibit will be on display at Love Field through the end of October.
