Save Water. Nothing Can Replace It.

Save Water. Nothing Can Replace It.

August 4, 2025 — During the summer months, high temperatures and less precipitation increase the demand on Dallas’ water resources. Dallas Water Utilities (DWU) urges residents and businesses to continue following the City of Dallas Water Conservation Ordinance watering restrictions below to reduce water consumption and protect this valuable resource.

  • The MAXIMUM Twice-Weekly Watering Schedule is in effect YEAR-ROUND and allows residents and businesses to water twice per week on assigned days based on your address. To view the watering schedule, please visit bit.ly/WCOWateringSchedule
  • From April 1 to October 31, watering with hose-end sprinklers or automatic sprinkler systems is prohibited between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on all days of the week, even on your scheduled watering days. However, hand watering, soaker hoses and drip irrigation are allowed on any day at any time.

Residents and businesses are also urged to implement practices that will reduce water consumption. Scheduling irrigation at the wrong time of the day, watering too often and watering for too long are sources of water waste associated with landscape irrigation. Below are some irrigation-related water conservation tips and resources.

  • Maintain your sprinkler system. Repair any broken, missing or misdirected sprinkler heads and make sure the system has no leaks. DWU customers can request a free irrigation system evaluation by a licensed irrigation specialist by visiting bit.ly/FreeIrrigationEval.
  • Automatic sprinkler system owners are required to install rain and freeze sensors.
  • Turn off your sprinkler system during inclement weather and don’t water during any form of precipitation.
  • Don’t allow water runoff onto a street or other drainage areas when you’re watering.
  • Sign up to receive free, weekly watering advice via text or email at bit.ly/WeeklyWateringAdvice.
  • Any water that is flowing from private or public property that is not normally viewed, should be reported by calling the City of Dallas 3-1-1 information line.

Water conservation benefits include:

  • Reducing your monthly water bills
  • Extending the life of the city’s water resources and infrastructure
  • Reducing peak demand requirements
