Kids can “play-fly” at Dallas Love Field Turn Up! Event Aug. 1

Dallas-area students will learn how Dallas Love Field serves as a transportation hub for seven million people a year at the latest Dallas City of Learning Turn Up! event, set for August 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free event is part of Dallas City of Learning, Mayor Mike Rawlings’ and Big Thought’s citywide learning initiative designed to help young people explore new ideas, pursue their interests while discovering new ones, and make connections between the things they learn in class with the possibilities of the world around them.

The Turn Up! will showcase the inner workings of the airport and the operation mechanisms that keep Love Field flying. The day’s activities will include tours of the Love Field terminal; sampling food from the airport concessionaries; checking out the largest snow removal trucks and an operating Airport Rescue Fire-Fighter Truck; experimenting with wind tubes; viewing a living history performance of prominent people in aviation history; and exploring a Frontier Flyer airplane.
