Dallas Fire-Rescue participate in Day of Caring
More than 150 members of the Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) participated in the first annual Day of Caring and delivered more than 500 meals for VNA Meals on Wheels. Personnel throughout the department, including Fire Chief, Louie Bright, hit the streets at 10 a.m. to deliver meals and provide free fire education.
“In addition to delivering meals, we performed smoke detector checks and installed detectors for those individuals who didn’t have one,” said Louie Bright, DFR Chief.
For each route delivered by volunteers, VNA Meals on Wheels is able to feed another hungry senior for a week.
“It was an honor and a privilege to be part of this effort and we look forward to nurturing this newly found relationship into a long-standing tradition,” said Chief Bright.
