City to kick off National Community Development Week March 28-April 2

The City of Dallas will celebrate 2016 National Community Development Week March 28 to April 2, showcasing the impact of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership Grant (HOME) programs on our community.

The City will highlight both programs during National Community Development Week with these activities:

  • March 28: 10 a.m. press Conference hosted by Mayor Pro Tem Monica R. Alonzo in the Flag Room at Dallas City Hall.
  • March 28: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., CDBG exhibits and informational tables in the City Hall lobby
  • Daily highlights of CDBG & HOME programs featured on dallascitynews.net and on Facebook and Twitter.

This year marks the 42nd anniversary of the CDBG program, which provides grants to more than 1,200 local governments to improve community economic and social conditions. Every $1 of CDBG leverages $4 in other funds which bring additional vital resources to communities. The HOME program, now in its 25th year, provides grants to more than 600 local participating jurisdictions, creating to create safe and affordable housing in communities nationwide. Every $1 of HOME leverages an additional $4.16 in other funding.
