The City of Dallas Community Courts proudly celebrated the 17th anniversary of the West Dallas Community Court on Friday, December 5, 2025.
Since opening its doors on November 18, 2008, inside the West Dallas Multipurpose Center, the court has been dedicated to serving the residents of West Dallas and Oak Cliff. Located at 2828 Fish Trap Road, Dallas, Texas 75212, the court continues to provide vital services to the community. The West Dallas Community Court addresses quality-of-life Class C misdemeanor citations and code violations, including offenses such as driving without a license, speeding, and public intoxication. Through its restorative justice model, residents are given the opportunity to complete community service in lieu of paying fines and fees. Participants also meet with social services coordinators who conduct assessments to identify barriers and connect them to critical resources.
The anniversary celebration brought together community leaders and partners to honor this milestone. Guests heard remarks from the Honorable Judge Mark Murrell, the court’s new presiding judge; the Honorable Judge Tonya Goffney, who served as presiding judge from 2018 to 2025; Administrative Judge Preston Robinson; and Osiris Marquez, Assistant Director of Municipal Court & Detention Services. The program also highlighted the work of Social Services Coordinator LaKebra Mahomes and Community Service Coordinator Giovanna Lastra, who shared inspiring success stories that reflect the court’s ongoing commitment to rehabilitation and community restoration. The West Dallas Community Court remains a cornerstone of the City’s efforts to provide fair, compassionate, and effective justice while strengthening neighborhoods.
