Dallas Water Utilities (DWU) has completed construction work for the grouting of an abandoned 36-inch diameter pipeline adjacent to Garland Road and the White Rock Lake Trail between E. Lawther Drive and San Rafael Drive. The closed portion of White Rock Lake Trail along Garland Road and E. Lawther between Garland Road and Winfrey Point are scheduled to reopen to the public by Friday, August 7, 2026.
Earlier this year, a sinkhole was observed next to the trail over the abandoned wastewater pipeline and was immediately backfilled. The grouting is a long-term measure intended to address the potential for future sinkholes.
Construction work began the week of June 15, 2026, and the contractor worked diligently to complete the grouting ahead of the expected date of September 2026. This project was a collaboration between DWU and the Park and Recreation and Transportation and Public Works departments.
