Branch Out Dallas Tree Giveaway Returns Nov. 7 in Celebration of Dallas Arbor Day

Dallas Water Utilities (DWU) will host the eighth annual Branch Out Dallas Tree Giveaway on Saturday, November 7, 2026, in celebration of Dallas Arbor Day. The event provides free, 5-gallon trees to Dallas residents who successfully registered for the program. Tree pickup will take place from 9 a.m. to Noon at designated distribution locations throughout Dallas. To pick up your tree, you must show a valid government-issued ID or Dallas Water Utilities water bill with the address associated with your registration.

Trees play an important role in protecting the urban environment by reducing stormwater runoff into drainage systems, cooling temperatures, improving air quality and helping mitigate the urban heat island effect. Through Branch Out Dallas, residents can contribute to these environmental benefits while enhancing their neighborhoods and properties.

This year’s tree giveaway will offer seven pickup locations throughout the city, including Kidd Springs Park, Kiest Park, Park Forest Library, Prairie Creek Library, Renner Frankford Library, White Rock Hills Library and Willis C. Winters Park.

Registered participants must pick up their trees at the location selected during registration on Saturday, November 7, between 9 a.m. and Noon. Tree delivery is not available. For more details visit dallas.gov/branchoutdallas.

Launched in fall 2018, the Branch Out Dallas program has continued to grow in popularity as residents embrace opportunities to plant trees and support environmental sustainability. Due to increasing demand and community participation, the tree giveaway became part of the city’s annual Dallas Arbor Day celebration in 2019.

Branch Out Dallas is made possible through the collaboration of various City of Dallas departments, volunteers and civic organizations that help coordinate the event and distribute trees to residents.
