Surveys seek public input to quantify the value of the nighttime economy in Dallas

DALLAS – Visit Dallas, 24HourDallas, and Convention and Event Services’ new Nighttime Economy and Responsible Hospitality division seek input from consumers, employees, businesses and entertainers to measure the economic impact of the nighttime economy.

The results of the survey being conducted by research firm Tourism Economics will be published during the Responsible Hospitality Institute’s global Sociable City Summit at the Adolphus Hotel April 18 to 20, 2024.

“If you go to a sports game, dine in a restaurant, attend happy hours in bars, or see live music at night, you are contributing to the nighttime economy.” said the City of Dallas Nighttime Economy and Responsible Hospitality Manager Nathan Armstrong. “We will set a baseline to measure how this sector is emerging from the pandemic and position ourselves to support nighttime businesses and our entertainment districts.”

“Peer cities competing with Dallas for economic development, talent attraction, and cultural tourism know that the safety and vibrancy of their nighttime economy is key to their success in attracting businesses, residents, and conventions,” said Craig Davis, President CEO of Visit Dallas. “With a new, unified destination brand and investment in a new Convention Center district of historic proportions, this will help set expectations for the associated Hotel Occupancy Tax and sales tax funding services and amenities for residents and visitors alike for years to come.”

“The Sociable City Summit coming to Dallas demonstrates how vital our nighttime ecosystem is,” said Bryan Tony of 24HourDallas. “As one of the safest large cities in America, we are excited to welcome visitors from around the world to experience our incredible food, music, and nightlife and learn our best practices.”

Four surveys target four distinct audiences: Consumers, employees, businesses, and entertainers. The deadline to submit feedback is March 15, 2024.
