Mobility 2040 Plan provides blueprint for regional transportation

The North Central Texas Council of Governments recently briefed the Transportation and Trinity River Project Committee on the Mobility 2040 Plan, the long-term transportation plan under development for North Texas.

Estimates are that by 2040, more than 10.7 million people will be living in North Texas with an employment rate estimated at 6.7 million. The plan, adopted in 2014, calls for $94.5 billion in transportation improvements through 2035. This includes 2,200 new lane miles of the freeways, tollways, and tolled managed lanes. 300 additional miles of passenger rail and 1700 miles of off-street bicycle facilities.
