Dallas Park and Recreation Extends Sprayground Season

Dallas Park and Recreation Extends Sprayground Season

Summer break is over but park patrons can still have some really cool fun thanks to an extended Dallas Park and Recreation sprayground season. New this year, the park department is extending its sprayground season until the end of September.

After Labor Day, the city’s spraygrounds will be open only on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The spraygrounds normally open in late May and close the end of August, but this year the season lasts until Sunday, September 27. Park and Recreation manages and maintains 11 spraygrounds around the city.

“Our spraygrounds are a free alternative for families wanting to keep cool,” said Willis C. Winters, FAIA, Dallas Park and Recreation Department director. “We determined that the cost of keeping the spraygrounds open for four additional weekends was pretty insignificant when you measure the overall satisfaction from our community.”
