Mayor’s Summer Reading Club kickoff parties set for Saturday
What could bring Mayor Mike Rawlings, assorted sports mascots, musicians, wild animals, and dozens of excited kids all together at the same time? It’s the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club at the Dallas Public Library.
Registration for the Mayor’s Summer Reading program opened May 17, but the real fun begins Saturday June 4 with kickoff parties at Library branches across the city. In addition to weekly and grand prizes, each participant will also receive a free book.
And kids aren’t the only ones being rewarded for reading: Club members over age 18 who participate are entered into weekly prize drawings and two grand prize drawings just for adults. And all readers may report any reading material including books, e-books, audio books and magazines.
