Margaret McDermott Bridge twin arches are now complete

The last piece of the steel arch on the west-bound Margaret McDermott bridge has been put into place, completing the twin arches. Each of the two arches measures 1,311 feet spanning the Trinity River.

Crews have been working since 2013 to make improvements along IH-30 and I-35E as a part of the Dallas Horseshoe Project, a $798 million roadway construction project by the Texas Department of Transportation. The project focuses on rebuilding, expanding and adding roadways as well constructing the new Margaret McDermott Bridge.  This project is scheduled for completion in mid- 2017.

The second signature bridge, Margaret McDermott Bridge, is named after the philanthropist and wife of the founder of Texas Instruments.  The graceful steel bridges feature pedestrian and bicycle crossings over the Trinity River.
