Flying Tigers to be celebrated at Dallas Public Library Saturday

The Dallas Public Library will present a special program celebrating the Flying Tigers, a group of American fighter pilots that flew for China in World War II. The program, “The Flying Tigers – Courageous Heroes” will begin at 11 a.m. with the opening of a photographic exhibit & reception on the first floor of the Central Library at 1515 Young St.

Next, Dr. Harold Tanner, Professor of Chinese History at the University of North Texas will present “Chiang Kai-shek in the War against Japan, 1937-1945,” followed by a question and answer session. Dr. Tanner’s remarks will be followed by a video about China’s contributions during World War II.

The day will conclude with Dr. Zsuzsanna Ozsvach, Professor of Holocaust Studies at the University of Texas at Dallas, who will discuss the “Destruction of European Jews during World War Two,” followed by a question and answer session.
