The Office of Environmental Quality and Sustainability is proud to announce that Parkland Memorial Hospital Main Campus is the first to receive Gold Certification under the Dallas Green Business Certification Program (GBC). The Gold Certification is the second highest scoring category and is reserved for businesses whose green actions exceed expectations and set the standard for community excellence.
While Parkland has been a pillar in the Dallas Community for over a century, the addition of the new Parkland Memorial Hospital in 2015 was the start of many green actions to come. The hospital ended up earning LEED® Gold Certification for new construction. LEED® Certification also recognizes excellence in sustainability, recognizing efficiency and other sustainable design qualities. Other LEED Certified Buildings include their three clinics, and Tower Garage at the Main Campus Site.
Committing to sustainability is one of the many ways Parkland is prioritizing patients and benefiting the Dallas community. Highlights on the GBC sustainability scorecard include perfect scores in the building efficiency and air quality categories, near perfect scores for transportation and solid waste, and high points for the leadership & policy category.
