2023 Community Survey Results

DALLAS – The City of Dallas has embarked upon several customer engagement initiatives to ensure that the organization is providing exceptional service to the residents, businesses, and communities of Dallas. The purpose of the 2023 Community Survey is to assess residents’ perceptions of Dallas and understand community priorities regarding City services.

Methodology

The City contracted with ETC Institute to conduct the survey. The 2023 Community Survey was mailed in English and Spanish to a random sample of residents within the city limits. Residents had the option of completing the survey by mail, online, or phone. A total of 1,475 Community Surveys were completed with at least 100 responses from each Council District to ensure statically valid results.

Results

Survey findings show that 66 percent of residents rated their neighborhood as an “Excellent” or “Good” place to live and 62 percent of residents rated Dallas as an “Excellent” or “Good” place to live.

More notably, the City of Dallas rated above the national average in 11 of 13 areas in ‘Major Categories of City Services.’ Survey results show that residents’ overall priorities include:

  • Infrastructure Maintenance
  • Police Services

“Community feedback is an integral part of engaging residents and ensuring that the City of Dallas is effectively providing services to residents,” said Chief Financial Officer, Jack Ireland. “In future years, the Community Survey will be conducted annually, and results will be incorporated into the budget development process, to further identify funding priorities.”
