Council set to consider Love Field Dalfort development Aug. 26

A plan to develop the former headquarters of Braniff International Airways for aviation and commercial use will be considered by the Dallas City Council on Aug. 26.

The historic Dalfort building, at 7701 Lemmon Avenue was originally built as Braniff’s maintenance facility in 1958, and served as Braniff headquarters until 1974 when the company moved to DFW Airport.

Vacant since 1993, the building was designed by William Pereira and Charles Luckman, the team who also designed CBS Television City in Hollywood, Los Angeles International Airport and Madison Square Garden.

“This project will bring several benefits,” said Director of Aviation Mark Duebner. “It will create approximately 1,200 jobs and generate about 65 million in annual salaries.”
