Webb Chapel now closed as DWU installs new pipelines
As scheduled, the Webb Chapel bridge between Northwest Highway and Shorecrest is now closed to vehicular traffic. The closure will last for the duration of Dallas Water Utilities (DWU) pipeline construction activity in the area between Webb Chapel and Lemmon. The bridge is expected to reopen by the end of September or early October.
DWU is installing 8,000 feet of 48-inch Wastewater Interceptor Pipeline along the northern edge of Bachman Lake Park, from Denton Drive to Lemmon Avenue. The existing pipeline ranges in diameter from 36 to 45 inches and generally follows the northern shoreline of Bachman Lake. The new, larger-diameter pipeline replaces the existing lines and is routed away from the lake.
Pedestrian traffic on the lake loop trail across the bridge will remain open. “The project is a pipeline renewal need identified by regular maintenance inspections, a capacity improvement need identified by the Wastewater Master Plan and a relocation need identified in conjunction with Bachman Dam improvement planning,” said Erick Steitle, Pipeline Project Manager for DWU.
Additional updates will be posted on the Dallas Park and Recreation Facebook and Twitter pages and presented at future NW HWY Association meetings.
