Video: Here’s a look at what’s going on in Your City
Among the stories featured on this week’s Your City:
- The City Council’s Economic Development Committee was briefed on a program to open a major grocery store in a southern Dallas area identified as a ‘food desert’. The program would provide up to $3 million to developers and grocers. The City would also consider tax abatements or other programs to drive new opportunities to those south Dallas locations.
- When a new school year starts, we want to make sure those kids aren’t starting from scratch again. The reality of summer reading loss is well documented and it is more persistent among students from lower socio-economic backgrounds. The Dallas Public Library is kicking off the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club June 4th at every library location. The reading club is open to all ages, including adults.
