Transportation Committee briefed on DART 2040 Transit System Plan

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) President and Executive Director Gary Thomas provided the Transportation and Trinity River Project Committee with an overview of DART’s 2040 Transit System Plan.

Thomas spoke of the long-range element of the DART Service Plan and a vision for the future.  Current DART projects include the Dallas Streetcar extension to Bishop Arts District which will open in August and the Blue Line Extension to UNT Dallas which will open in October.

Thomas also briefed the committee about simplifying routes, increase frequency and expanding service to include crosstown services as the population grows.  Committee members asked for more citizen participation in the Transit System Plan meetings.
