Texas National Guard again teams with the City to demolish house; The effort is part of the Guard’s “Operation Crackdown” Program

One of nearly 30 abandoned structures, many connected with illegal activity, will be demolished by the Texas National Guard, as part of their Operation Crackdown counter-drug task force program on Thursday, Aug. 20. The structure is located at 2420 Bombay Ave. In place since 1993, the program uses federal drug forfeiture funds to pay for demolitions of houses across the state.

Operation Crackdown works as an active partner with cities, reclaiming neighborhoods from the influences of illegal drugs and associated violence by removing structures that house illegal activities. To date, the Guard has demolished more than 1,200 structures in 24 communities statewide. Dallas is one of the largest cities to benefit from the program.

The Texas National Guard will also invite children from Obadiah Knight Elementary School, 2615 Anson Road, to be present at the demolition as part of its anti-drug education mission.
