South Dallas Cultural Center announces new resident theater company

The South Dallas Cultural Center is proud to announce that Soul Rep Theatre is their new resident theater company. The former community theater ensemble was founded in 1996 to provide opportunities for African-American actors, writers, and directors to develop and share their talent and projects.

NAUGHTYNICE2Since then, the company’s work has achieved national recognition, and they are now back in south Dallas for a new season of performances ranging from a soulful and fun cabaret, spirited children’s theater and a Pulitzer Prize winning drama.

The 2015/2016 season will include “Naughty But Nice – A Christmas Cabaret”, “Her Stories”, “Topdog/Underdog” and “The Colored Museum”.  “We are looking forward to the new season and infinite possibilities in sharing our profound message and artistry with the community. It’s great to be back at our training ground – the South Dallas Cultural Center,” said Guinea Bennett-Price, Artistic Director, Soul Rep co-founder.

“It has been my dream since I took over the South Dallas Cultural Center in 1997 to have this wonderful company in residence,” said SDCC Manager Vicki Meek. “I couldn’t be happier.”
