Office of Equity continues to explore redlining in virtual exhibit tour three

The City of Dallas Office of Equity and Inclusion- Equity Division has been on a virtual four-part tour, exploring the history of systemic racism and the future of undoing structural inequities via the “Undesign the Redline” exhibit. The collaboration began in partnership with designing the WE studio, a national, traveling art and design exhibit created to catapult inclusive learning, enabling conversations for transforming cities, towns and communities. Tour three of the four-part virtual exhibit starts today, Thursday, October 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Register to attend virtual tour three here .

“You have to make amends for the unequal distribution of resources, the historical, intentional, unequal distribution of resources. And that’s where we begin the conversation of equity. I’m proud to say in this City of Dallas budget that we just approved, that we used the racial equity lens, for the first time ever in the City of Dallas,” Councilmember Casey Thomas said.

Missed the first two tours? No worries. Hear from Council Member Casey Thomas, Interim Equity Officer, Dr. Lindsey Wilson, and Founder of designing the We studio, Braden Crooks in the NBCDFW  Community Conversations: Redlining Exhibit Goes Virtual segment.

The final virtual tour will be hosted on Thursday, November 12  from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Community guests will be present. To register for the final tour, click here .

Undesign the Redline is a national, traveling art and design exhibit created by designing the WE, a for-benefit design studio based in New York. Undesign the Redline includes a diverse, local community advisory board that helped localize the exhibit in a months-long project with City staff. The exhibit has previously been featured in several other major cities throughout the country and at Dallas City Hall,  last year from October through December.
