Office of Community Care awards $1M contract to the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas for Nonprofit Assistance Program administration
In an effort to support nonprofit organizations that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Office of Community Care awarded $1M to the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas to distribute to Dallas-based nonprofits via a competitive grants process. United Way will provide grants to individual nonprofits ranging from $5,000 to $30,000. Grants awarded will be used to support operational expenses such as rent, utilities, staff salaries and benefits, cleaning and program supplies needed to respond the pandemic and more.
“The Office of Community Care is thrilled to partner with United Way of Metropolitan Dallas to provide support to Dallas nonprofits who have seen their revenues and operations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Office of Community Care Director Jessica Galleshaw . “For the nonprofit sector, times like these create increasing demand for their services, while often making it more difficult to generate revenues. These grants will help provide some relief to many of the organizations providing critical human and social services to ensure these non-profits can continue providing quality support to our communities.”
The grant is administered by United Way of Metropolitan Dallas for nonprofits that are located within the city of Dallas that provide direct services to clients. United Way of Metropolitan Dallas works closely with the City of Dallas to help identify unmet needs and service gaps and to determine where city and county funding and actions can be embedded.
“The coronavirus pandemic has impacted the daily lives of all Dallas residents, especially those who have no financial safety net,” said United Way’s Executive Director of Housing Stability and Senior Vice President of Community Impact Ashley Brundage. “Our nonprofit sector has stepped up to serve in a tremendous way, but at risk to their budgets. United Way of Metropolitan Dallas is proud to partner with the City of Dallas to provide these much-needed operational resources to organizations that have been battling COVID on the ground in their neighborhoods.”
