Mayor’s Intern Fellows Program

Imagine being 17 and given the opportunity to spend a summer working in coveted positions, soaking up real-world knowledge and eye-opening experiences at Dallas’ top corporations, nonprofits and professional firms. That’s what the Mayor’s Intern Fellows program offers. Since its launch in 2008, 748 Dallas ISD and public charter high school students have participated in eight-week paid summer internships made possible by hundreds of businesses and nonprofits that invested in Dallas youth. One of the graduates of the program talks with Mayor Rawlings about what it did for him and how it can help other students in the future.
