Katy Trail Bridge installation will mean detours Friday and Saturday

A segment of Skillman Street between Woodcrest and Sandhurst Lanes will be closed to through traffic from 6:30 p.m. Friday Oct. 9 until 9 a.m. Saturday Oct. 10.

This closure is being done for the installation of the Katy Trail pedestrian bridge over Skillman Street. Through traffic will be routed around the bridge installation site via Mockingbird Lane, Abrams Road and Lovers Lane. Local traffic can still access homes/apartments in the area.  During overnight construction there will be lights and noise generated by the cranes and other heavy equipment necessary for the installation.

“We are excited to install the structure that will result in years of safer passage for walkers, runners and cyclist to enjoy the Katy Trail,” said Public Works Assistant Director Mark Rauscher. “This bridge element will make a connection for the Katy Trail that will eventually total about eight miles, from the American Airlines Center to White Rock Lake for all to enjoy,” he said.
