Goodyear blimp makes Dallas Executive Airport its temporary home

The Goodyear blimp, known as “The Spirit of Innovation” will make Dallas Executive Airport its home for a few days while it covers several sporting events in North Texas.

The blimp is in town to cover the Houston vs Dallas NFL preseason game on Thursday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, the Baylor @ SMU game on Friday at Ford Stadium in Dallas and the ESPN’s College Game day on Saturday, also in Dallas.

The “Spirit of Innovation” is 192 feet long, 59.5 feet tall, and 50 feet wide. By comparison, the largest airships ever built were Zeppelin’s Hindenburg, and the Graf Zeppelin II. They were 804 feet long and 135 feet in diameter; four times as long and more than twice as wide as the Goodyear blimp.
