Economic Development Committee approves Love Field Hotel project

Construction of a new eight-story hotel near Love Field has been approved by the City Council’s Economic Development Committee, providing a boost to future development in the Love Field/Medical District area. The full Council will vote on the proposal on Feb. 11.

The $40 million, 224-room hotel and restaurant will be located at 2345 W. Mockingbird Lane. The hotel is part of the Maple/Mockingbird Tax Increment Financing District created in 2008 to encourage development in the area between Love Field Airport and the medical district, while also taking advantage of the expanding DART light rail system.

“This project is very important in terms of future redevelopment in the Love Field and Hospital District area, and demonstrates the City’s commitment to encouraging new investment,” said Office of Economic Development Director
Karl Zavitkovsky.
