DallasNow Coming in May to Streamline Permitting Process

On May 5th, the City of Dallas Planning & Development will launch a new land management system called DallasNow. This new, cloud-based system will integrate Permitting, Planning, Platting and Engineering into one unified platform, and will enhance efficiency, transparency, and customer service.

DallasNow is a user-friendly system that will streamline the permitting process and provide much more transparency for our customers,” said Emily Liu, Director of Planning & Development. “Through the online portal, customers can view, track and get real-time status updates of their applications at any time.”

The new system will provide customers with access to an online portal accessible at any time. The online functionality allows for property owners, contractors and developers to apply, review and track applications electronically, thus eliminating the need to visit the Planning & Development offices. Additionally, all payments can be submitted online and customers will receive real-time notifications that include permits, inspection statuses, and itemized fee descriptions.

“We are preparing our teams with ongoing virtual and in-person training.  There will also be dedicated public workshops.  However, we anticipate some growing pains.  From April 25 to May 4, the current system will be offline as we migrate data from our old system to DallasNow. Both city staff and customers will need time to adjust, but once fully implemented, this will be a game-changer for how Dallas handles permitting, zoning and inspections,” said Vernon Young, Deputy Director of Planning & Development.

Below are IMPORTANT DATES to keep in mind:

  • April 25 – May 4: Current Systems Downtime
