Dallas Veterans Day Parade & Ceremony set for 11 a.m. Friday Nov. 11

The annual Veteran’s Day Parade will be held in downtown Dallas on Friday Nov. 11. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at City Hall Plaza, 1500 Marilla St. The City of Dallas has approved the following road closures for the parade staging and route.

  • STAGING AREA:Streets closed in the staging area from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. consist of Houston St from Wood to Young St., Reunion E. from Houston to Hotel, Hotel from Reunion E. to Cadiz St. The staging area will be utilized for the staging, line up of floats and bus drop off of all participants.
  • PARADE ROUTE: The parade will start at11:15 a.m. at Houston and Young St and will end at City Hall Plaza.  It will proceed north on Houston, east on Main, south on Ervay, west on Young, south on Akard, east on Marilla and south on Ervay to Canton.
  • STREET CLOSURES: From 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., the following parade route streets will be closed:Houston Between Elm and Young, Main St. from Houston St. to Ervay, Ervay between Main and Young, Young between Field and St. Paul, Marilla Street from Ervay to Young Street, Akard between Wood and Canton, and Ervay Service Drive between Young and Canton. Two horse trailers will park in the ‘postage stamp’ location (parking area B).
  • DISPERSAL AREA: Intermittent traffic control (ITC) will effect streets used in the dispersal area.  These streets consist ofCanton between Ervay and Akard, Marilla between Akard and Ervay, Akard between Young and Marilla and Browder between Canton and Cadiz from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.  Lamar, Griffin, Commerce at Houston will remain open along the parade route to facilitate incoming and outgoing Downtown Dallas traffic.

A comprehensive traffic plan has been developed by the Dallas Police Department in conjunction with the parade organizers in an effort to minimize traffic interruptions. Dallas Police Department will work traffic through the parade route as necessary and roads will reopen as the parade passes each intersection.
