Dallas Public Library Director named to Family Engagement Task Force

Dallas Public Library Director Jo Giudice has been appointed to the Public Library Association (PLA) Family Engagement Task Force. The PLA has teamed with the Harvard Family Research Project (HFRP) on a new initiative to help libraries identify and implement family engagement strategies to help children of all ages succeed in school and in life.

“I’m thrilled to be part of a team that will research best practices and share what we learn with public libraries across the country,” Giudice said. “It’s a great opportunity to be part of cutting edge library programming with a family focus.”

The PLA Family Engagement Task Force is co-chaired by Clara Bohrer, past PLA president and chair of the PLA Early Literacy Research Grant Advisory Committee and Kathleen Reif, past chair of PLA’s groundbreaking early literacy initiative Every Child Ready to Read.

HFRP’s mission is to shape 21st-century learning opportunities, address issues of access and equity in learning and advance family and community engagement practices. Since it was founded in 1983, HFRP has served as a national platform for forward-thinking perspectives on family and community engagement research, practices, policies, and strategies.

The Public Library Association is a division of the American Library Association. Its purpose is to strengthen public libraries and their contribution to the communities it serves.
