Dallas Love Field announces additional alternate entry virtual meetings and public input survey
Dallas Love Field (DAL) welcomes all residents and passengers across the region to join the upcoming virtual public meetings for the airport’s Alternate Entry Analysis.
All community members, including public officials, aviation enthusiasts, DAL customers, local businesses and residents are encouraged to attend and understand the project directly from DAL project team members. The remaining virtual meetings are scheduled for July 23, Sept. 3 and Sept. 22.
The airport is also requesting customers and residents to provide project feedback through an online public input survey available now in English and Spanish. All are encouraged to contribute their thoughts and lend opinions to assist the project team with evaluating the best options.
The Alternate Entry Analysis was undertaken to address safety and mobility concerns, as well as the operational risks with a single point of entry to the nation’s busiest medium-hub airport with specific attention to the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Herb Kelleher Way. This interchange has experienced significant growth of both passenger and regional traffic in recent years. As part of the analysis, this intersection was found to have an average daily traffic count of over 80,000.
This project, led by the Department of Aviation in coordination with consultant firm Ricondo & Associates and the North Central Texas Council of Governments, has used research from various analyses and passenger surveys to identify a shortlist of potential entries in order to address these growing concerns.
Alternatives were evaluated based on their ability to provide an alternative evacuation route in the event the current entry is blocked due to an incident, as well as traffic impacts, environmental and air quality impacts, and the ability to accommodate an automated people mover system.
