Council will consider expansion of DFR pre-incident planning database

The City Council on March 23 will consider authorizing an agreement to enhance the capabilities of Dallas Fire Rescue’s pre-incident planning database.

The agreement will support the effort by DFR and the Office of Emergency Management to expand their regional Critical Infrastructure Protection and Risk program. The enhancement will create an ability to export an assessment from the database, allowing for data about a particular property to be updated by the property representative and imported back into the system.

The database will allow emergency personnel to visualize fire hydrants on the map; improve reporting, including use of images; make Tier II Hazardous Materials reports available to first responders; allow reporting based on divisions, districts and shifts; and assign assessments to specific individuals.
