Council approves plan for second light rail alignment downtown

The Dallas City Council has approved a resolution that would bring a second Light Rail Alignment (D2) to provide light rail service to the Central Business District, with the goal of increasing system capacity and operational flexibility.

The Transportation and Trinity River Project Committee has been briefed on the alignment, and once a local preferred alternative is selected, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will proceed with a detailed design, providing additional opportunities for community engagement, stakeholder involvement and Council input.

The D2 Project is the future second DART Rail alignment through downtown Dallas.
