City of Dallas celebrates the 2nd annual Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebration with AT&T Performing Arts Center

The Dallas Police Department Office of Community Affairs is proud to collaborate once again with the AT&T Performing Arts Center for the second annual AAPI Celebration to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month.

Residents and visitors are invited to join the festivities as we kick off AAPI Heritage Month with a vibrant celebration in Sammons Park. The 2nd Annul AAPI Celebration will feature authentic food vendors, showcase the talents of local artisans, offer captivating performances, and host a diverse vendor market with activities suitable for all ages.

“The Dallas Police Office of Community Affairs looks forward to engaging with the Asian Community, in order to strengthen relationships and reinforce our commitment to public safety within the community. This event, while fun and a celebration of AAPI heritage, is essential to building further trust and partnerships.” said Danny Young, Manager of the Office of Community Affairs, Dallas Police Department.

One of the highlights of the celebration is the Culinary Passport Activity, where attendees can embark on a flavorful journey, sampling snacks from five different Asian cultures. Participants will also have the opportunity to delve deeper into the rich tapestry of Asian heritage, with each tasting offering insights into the cultural significance of the dishes. Plus, every completed passport provides a raffle entry for a chance to win exciting prizes.

“North Texas is a tapestry of ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and we’re so excited to celebrate the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, especially during AAPI Heritage Month. Part of our mission is to reach diverse audiences and foster a connection between the community and the arts, and we strive to ensure our programs reflect this tenet. We look forward to welcoming the community to our campus for delicious food, fun activities, and dazzling performances!” said Warren Tranquada, AT&T Performing Arts Center President and CEO.

The celebration will take place on May 18, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Sammons Park, located at 2403 Flora St., Dallas, TX, 75201.
