City Hosts Community Cleanup

Earlier this month, members of College Park Baptist Church and students from Wilmer Hutchins High School participated in a community cleanup effort in southeast Dallas.

“We appreciate community groups like this who take pride in their neighborhood,” said Code Compliance Director Kris Sweckard. “The City can’t do it alone, so we welcome community involvement in keeping our neighborhoods clean.” Volunteers canvassed several miles, picking up trash, recyclables and discarded tires, with the City providing gloves, trash bags and a dumpster.

Operation Beautification, another city-wide community cleanup is planned for May 16 and the City is encouraging homeowners and neighborhood associations, crime watch groups and other civic groups to participate. The City will coordinate with participating groups to provide out-of-schedule trash collection for neighborhoods that choose to join the cleanup effort.
