City employee tells story of Katrina rescue and survival
Employee Lance Johnson is marking the tenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina with vivid memories of desperation and survival. Johnson, who works in the City Secretary’s Office helped rescue his parents and elderly neighbors.
Johnson and a neighborhood friend waded through the flooded streets, finding an abandoned truck and were able to evacuate, eventually arriving at a relative’s home in Baton Rouge. He tell his story in this interview in the New York Daily News:
