Some City of Dallas Property Owners to receive corrected tax statements

The Dallas County Tax Office began mailing Property Tax Statements for Tax Year 2016 on Monday, October 3, 2016. Preparing and mailing of tax statements is a fairly laborious process. Unfortunately, in the process of doing so this year, the City of Dallas’ Maintenance & Operations tax rate was inadvertently entered incorrectly into the statement processing system resulting in a number of erroneous tax statements being mailed out to some, but not all, City of Dallas Property owners.

The rate has been corrected. All of those City of Dallas property owners that were mailed the incorrect statements will be receiving Corrected Tax Statements for Tax Year 2016. The average homeowner in the City of Dallas receiving a Corrected Tax Statement will see a decrease of $2.96 in their overall tax bill. “The Dallas County Tax Office strives for accuracy, efficiency and expeditious delivery of tax statements.   It is unfortunate that this

error occurred.  We have corrected the accounts and will be mailing corrected statements to those taxpayers affected,” stated John R. Ames , Dallas County Tax Assessor/Collector .

Please visit the Dallas County Tax Office website at www .dallascounty.org/tax to review and/or print a current statement or to pay online. The Customer Care Center is also available to assist taxpayers with questions regarding property taxes, motor vehicle registrations and title concerns Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., at 214.653 .7811.
