Chef and seniors break bread with City firefighters

Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) firefighters from the City’s newest firehouse, Station 27 in North Dallas, enjoyed a special breakfast on January 18 courtesy of some grateful residents of the Edgemere senior living community and its head chef.

IMG_GillesSeveral Edgemere residents attended the breakfast to personally express gratitude to the firefighters for their selfless service to the surrounding community. Among the seniors who visited, ate breakfast and toured Station 27 was Ted Giles, a founder of the Texas Firefighters Museum who served as an auxiliary firefighter as a young teenager during World War II.

DFR’s 2000 members prevent and suppress fires, rescue citizens and provide emergency medical services to Dallas’ 1.3 million residents encompassing over 345 square miles. Station 27, DFR’s newest venue, opened in December 2015.
