Annual Turkey Trot set for Thursday in downtown Dallas

The Dallas YMCA will host the 49th Annual Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday Nov. 24.  The run will start and finish at Dallas City Hall Plaza. Setup on City Hall Plaza will begin Tuesday Nov. 22 with the placement of tents, stages, fencing and a fenced-in dog park on the grassy area.

The 8K run begins at City Hall Plaza, goes east on Young, east on Canton, makes a left on Hall, left on Main Street, left on Houston, right on Reunion Blvd. W, left on Hotel, right on Reunion Blvd. E (against eastbound traffic) left on Sports Street (against northbound traffic), left on North Drive, left on Hotel, right on Reunion Blvd. E, right on Houston, continues on Marsalis, makes a right on Colorado, left on Blaylock, right on E.5th Street, right on Beckley, right on Zang, continues to the Jefferson St. Viaduct, onto Market, makes a right on Young, right on Marilla Street returning to City Hall Plaza where it will finish and disperse.

The 5K run goes from the plaza east on Young, east on Canton, left on Hall, left on Main, left on Market, left on Wood, continues on Young (against traffic), and finishes east of Griffin on Young in front of the Aloft Hotel.

This event will require the following street closures:

  • One lane northbound Akard between Marilla and Young starting at 11 a.m. Wednesday Nov. 23 until noon Thursday Nov. 24.
  • Eastbound and westbound Young St. between Griffin and Harwood starting on Thursday Nov. 24 from 4 to 11 a.m.
  • Note: Multiple streets will have limited access after 4 a.m. Thursday Nov. 24.

Dallas Police will work traffic through the route as necessary and roads will reopen as the race passes each intersection.  Visit http://www.thetrot.org/ for more information about the event.
