Time of day watering restrictions will continue through Oct. 31

Time of day watering restrictions in the City of Dallas are now in effect and will continue through Oct. 31. Here are the Water Conservation Ordinance requirements:

  • Water only before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m.
  • Observe the maximum twice per week watering schedule.
  • Don’t water during any form of precipitation. Automatic sprinkler systems are required to have rain and freeze sensors.
  • Repair broken, missing or misdirected sprinkler heads.
  • Watering driveways, sidewalks or streets is prohibited.
  • Watering resulting in runoff onto streets, sidewalks or other drainage area is prohibited.
  • Watering by hand, drip irrigation or the use of soaker hoses is permitted at any time.

Experts recommend you water no more than twice a week. If you give your lawn one inch of water every five to seven days, the water will sink in and encourage the roots to grow stronger. Deep and infrequent watering is key to keeping your lawn healthy and your water costs under control all summer long.
