Mayor announces Dallas Arts Month

Mayor Mike Rawlings announced that Dallas Arts Week will now become Dallas Arts Month. It will kick off on April 1 and provide month-long exposure for the City’s vibrant and dynamic cultural scene.

“There is so much going on artistically in Dallas, and we see all types of art being created and experienced in every corner of the city: theatre, music, dance, sculpture, literature, painting and more,” said Mayor Rawlings. “We realized we needed much more than a week to do it all justice. So for the 30 days of April, it’s all about the arts.”

During Arts Month, City leaders are encouraging art lovers and those brand new to the arts, to explore the diverse array of work being created by hundreds of artists and arts organizations in Dallas. There are several community events, which are free and open to the public, and special ticketed events. This year, the City’s Office of Cultural Affairs is working closely with key arts partners to engage Dallas residents and tourists in the arts.

That includes an expanded marketing push and an online calendar at dallasartsmonth.com.
