City receives Local Foods, Local Places technical assistance grant to expand community gardens

The City of Dallas is one of only 27 cities across the nation to receive a Local Foods, Local Places grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The non-monetary grant will provide technical assistance from a team of agricultural, transportation, environmental, public health and regional economic experts and share what other cities are doing to expand community gardens and urban farming efforts.

The technical assistance team will help the City’s Office of Environmental Quality (OEQ) create a vision and plan of action to strengthen the community garden momentum in Dallas. The OEQ anticipates that the assistance will provide an action plan to engage community-driven organizations.
