World Elder Abuse Awareness Day event to be held Wednesday

Millions of older persons are abused, neglected, and exploited. Once a year on June 15, communities and municipalities around the world plan activities and programs to recognize World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD). It’s an opportunity to share information and spread awareness about abuse, neglect, and exploitation in later life.

The City of Dallas Senior Services invites the public to attend a World Elder Abuse Awareness Day event from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, 6121 E. Lovers Lane. The program will present information about types of elder abuse, red flags and warning signs and how to report and stop abuse. Enjoy refreshments and visit resource tables at the event.

The program is sponsored by AARP, Adult Protective Services, AGE Elder Justice Committee, APS Community Board, Bridge Building Network, City of Dallas Senior Services, Community Council of Greater Dallas – Area Agency on Aging, Dallas Area Gerontological Society, Dallas County HHS, Elder Financial Safety Center, The Senior Source.

To RSVP call (214) 823-5700 or email [email protected].
