Work expected to begin soon at Oak Glen Apartments

Work is expected to begin this month at the city-owned Oak Glen Apartments, 2120 52nd St. The City Council approved a plan last year for NP Community Development Corporation (CDC) to renovate the 64-unit apartment complex.

The property was secured with new fencing last summer. In September, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to approve a plan to remove asbestos and mold in the building. The environmental work was completed in late December and final clearance provided.

Veritex Bank is providing $2 million in financing and permits have been issued for the renovations and roofing work, expected to be complete by early summer. More than half of the units will be affordable housing and the CDC also expects to provide housing to veterans.
