Ways to stay cool in the Texas heat

Summer has officially arrived!

While school may be out, the heat is here. Of course, Dallasites are no stranger to increasing temperatures. The City of Dallas has various activities and resources for those who want to soak up the sun.

Aquatic Centers
For Dallas residents that are eager to experience the outdoors, there are a multitude of activities to satisfy any adventurous spirit. Dallas Park and Recreation offer eight family aquatic centers. These large aquatic centers have features the entire family can enjoy. These features include lap pools, diving boards, climbing walls, basketball goals, slides, and much more.
“We have amazing water facilities here in Dallas,” said Adrea Hawkins, Manager, Marketing/Media Relations “We have nine outdoor pools, 17 spraygrounds, and many indoor pools. I would suggest Dallas residents check out the Bahama Beach Waterpark. We have expanded the park and have added new features such as two-person water slides.”

Spraygrounds
Along with aquatic centers, there are also numerous spraygrounds across the city.. Spraygrounds are very similar to ordinary playgrounds, except these locations have multiple water features. Dallas families can enjoy an evening in the sun while splashing in the park.

Water Fitness
Don’t want to get scorched by the heat but still want to swim? Water Fitness Classes for all ages. The classes are a great way to get out of the sun, stay active, and cool off. Time and locations vary throughout the summer.
