Video: Here’s a look at what’s going on in Your City

Among the stories featured on this week’s Your City:

  • After a nationwide search, David Coatney, the former head of the Round Rock Fire Department, has been named Dallas Fire-Rescue chief. In addition to heading the Round Rock Fire Department, Coatney served in the San Antonio Fire Department for more than 25 years.
  • Work has begun on a hike and bike bridge that will cross Mockingbird Street, just east of Central Expressway to connect the Katy Trail. Construction is expected to be completed in April of 2017.
  • In southern Dallas, near Fair Park and on South Lamar Street, a paving and drainage project is underway including Al Lipscomb Way and J.B. Jackson Boulevard. This will include streetscape amenities and a public art feature on South Lamar.
  • The construction in North Oak Cliff on Zang Boulevard is the streetcar southern extension. It will add to the existing service currently ending near Methodist Hospital and will extend to the Bishop Arts District. Two new cars will also be added with service expected to begin in late august.
