South Dallas Cultural Center honors women in film, art, poetry and dance

In recognition of National Women’s History Month; the South Dallas Cultural Center (SDCC) paid tribute to Women in film, art, poetry and dance.

In addition to the one-of-a-kind programming, the SDCC also offered a community healthcare initiative for issues that affect women. As a result over 200 patrons participated in breast cancer awareness sessions with UT Southwestern as well as free HIV/AIDS testing. Private, same day results were given on site. Several attendees delayed the testing process, prior to coming to the SDCC – due to fear and procrastination.

“The center was a cool & relaxing environment for our test, plus we got to see an awesome play afterwards.” said a patron of the SDCC. So overall it was a positive experience with negative results!
