Mayor Johnson and Dallas Public Library makes summer learning fun and SMART

Summer is arriving and with it comes warm weather, swimming and outdoor fun. Though family vacations and barbecues are on the minds of many, Dallas Public Library and Mayor Johnson remind Dallasites to take advantage of summer learning with the S.M.A.R.T program. Summer learning helps children maintain their skills and abilities, better preparing them for school in the fall.

Sponsored by Friends of the Dallas Public Library, activities include puppet shows, electronics tutorials, live performers, and much more. Children under age 18 who read or are read to for at least 20 minutes each day have an opportunity to earn a free book of choice and more exciting prizes.

Children who read for at least 50 days by July 31 will be entered to win grand prizes. Parents can join in on the fun as well.

Registration for the summer S.M.A.R.T. program has begun and the program will run until August 15. For more information, visit dallaslibrary2.org.
